In addition to free weights and resistance machines, there is another piece of equipment that you may not be familiar with.

It’s called a Smith Machine, and it looks like a barbell attached to a support frame. Did you see it?

The Smith machine is designed to give you more support during barbell exercises because it uses a fixed “up and down” motion.

It doesn’t allow you to rock forward or back out of frame alignment; makes typical barbell exercises a little easier.

Don’t be fooled though, it’s probably easier than using a free weight barbell, but you can still get a great full-body workout on this piece of gym equipment.
